How to communicate well at work
- When you are asked to do something:
- Immediately add the request to the top of your queue.
- If the request is something I think I'll finish today and not something I normally create a JIRA ticket for: # TODO: Clarify when you would create a JIRA ticket for something.
- I use Notepad.
- Example: "Prioritize the request to do XYZ."
- I use Notepad.
- Otherwise:
- I create a ticket in JIRA.
- If the request is something I think I'll finish today and not something I normally create a JIRA ticket for: # TODO: Clarify when you would create a JIRA ticket for something.
- Reply and confirm that you've received the request.
- Example: "Request acknowledged."
- Prioritize the request.
- Example: "Hmm...I should do this before X and after Y."
- Reply again and give your prioritization information / ETA.
- Immediately add the request to the top of your queue.
