How to communicate well at work

 

  • When you are asked to do something:
    1. Immediately add the request to the top of your queue.
      1. If the request is something I think I'll finish today and not something I normally create a JIRA ticket for:  # TODO: Clarify when you would create a JIRA ticket for something.
        1. I use Notepad.
          1. Example: "Prioritize the request to do XYZ." 
      2. Otherwise:
        1. I create a ticket in JIRA.
    2. Reply and confirm that you've received the request.
      1. Example: "Request acknowledged." 
    3. Prioritize the request.
      1. Example: "Hmm...I should do this before X and after Y."
    4. Reply again and give your prioritization information / ETA.
