Predicting Inflation in the US
The most interesting thing I've read on this subject is "The Debt Deflation/Inflation Debate", an Oct. 2009 presentation by Van R. Hoisington, President of Hoisington Investment Management Co., published in the March 2010 CFA Conference Proceedings Quarterly. He argues that three things are necessary for inflation:
1. an upward-sloping supply curve
2. a stable or rising velocity of money
3. a stable or rising money multiplier
I've been reading the article over and over, trying to understand it clearly.
