MI: The baby had problems early on but it looked like they were survivable, and then things just gradually got worse until at ~30 weeks the parents were told that the baby wouldn't be able to breathe on his own. It then took another week or two to coordinate the abortion.
Honestly, this kind of situation hadn't occurred to me before I read this article; when I had thought about late-term abortions, what had popped into my head was women changing their minds about wanting a pregnancy.
