  • I got this idea from Tim Ferris via Alok; apparently Tim tracks the factors that lead him to agree to purchase things and uses that to figure out what factors he should focus on when selling his own stuff. A very smart idea.

My purchasing decisions

  • Confluence → This was a much, much better way to solve a problem that I was already using a cheaper (free) solution for, and I had become very familiar with how to use this new solution before I began paying for it, so the initial switching cost was relatively low.
    • Explanation: I had been using the phpBB forum software to organize my thoughts into different forum threads. I then began using Confluence at my job and quickly saw how superior Confluence would be for storing my thoughts.
  • TimeLeft
    • I'd been using TimeLeft since at least 2009.  The first time I remember using it was for a year-long countdown to the June 2010 LSAT.  I ended up buying it 2018.12.29 because 1) I had been making decent money at my job, 2) had a decent amount of money in my bank account ($1000), and 3) I wanted to use more than one daily reminder to remind me to take medication at specific times in 4-hour increments.
